Children are taught from the Age of 4.
Juvenile – 3 Age Groups | 4–6yrs 7-9yrs 10-11yrs |
Junior | 12-16yrs |
Youth | 17yrs-21yrs |
All ages come to learn in a fun but disciplined environment. Ballroom/Latin dancing gives a child confidence, posture, social, mental and physical skills, and is also a chance to make new friends and become part of a team.
Children begin with basic steps in Ballroom – Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Tango and Viennese Waltz and in the Latin, they learn Jive, Samba, Rumba, Cha-Cha-Cha and Paso Doble. There is also an opportunity to Charleston, Rock ‘n’ roll and be involved in group routines.
When they have completed basic steps, they continue to learn more advanced steps.
Lessons are 1 hour. Private lessons are arranged by appointment.
Children may take part in demonstrations at various events, where rehearsals would be needed. We will continue to attend local events as I feel this encourages confidence when performing to various audiences. We perform at Charity Events, Local Events and the That’s Rhythm Christmas Dance.
That’s Rhythm is an ISTD and ABD school and the children may like to take medal examinations in either of these exam boards. After exam day they receive a medal or trophy as well as a certificate.
That’s Rhythm have students who like to compete at the ISTD and ABD Medallist competitions, Pro-Ams and some Open competitions. They qualify for Blackpool and we go each year to The Grand Finals. All competitors wear competitive clothing and travel to various competitions within the south and sometimes further afield. Competitors dance with their teacher, partner or can dance solo at these events.
Competing is a commitment from both parent and child. Once qualified in the regionals, they then dance at the Grand Finals in Blackpool.
ISTD Grand Medallist Final is held in November and Pro-Ams January in Blackpool.
During classes, all children are required to wear uniformed practice wear and correct dance shoes which must all have suede soles. Uniform and shoes can be ordered through us. Simply get in touch.
